Sabrina and David enjoy Yo-Yo Ma

Last night, February 26th, it was a sold out show for Yo-Yo Ma. It was an Endowment Benefit Event. Sabrina Schultz was amazed how the music from the cello filled the auditorium. Ma performed pieces from J.S. Bach’s Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello. Here is the program they enjoyed:

Suite No. 3 in C Major, BMV 1009 J.S. Bach

David particularlly liked No. 3 commenting that it was "musically and technically flawless. The music from cello was rich, breathtaking."

Watching the 81st Annual Oscars in Maine

Last night Amy of Transparent had the kids in bed 10 minutes early, a pan of brownies and was ready for the Oscars. She thought the pull back to the big bands, the 30's styling and patterns were wonderful. It seems Hugh Jackman was determined that everyone have a good time, quite a showman. The five presenters for the five nominees was fresh and that's what the Oscars needed: a serious overhaul. She was happy picking apart the big Oscars screen having an annoying defect= a vertical line in the middle of it....until the lights and t.v. in her house started flickering. Then the images would freeze and so she waited and waited. Then complained to the cable company, repeatly! Finally she could watch with no sound for a half hour.

Then the power went out.

Josh enjoys a Renee Fleming performance, 2/17

At the Merrill Auditorium, Josh Clark enjoyed the voice of the great soprano Renee Fleming. It was a packed house, being the highest grossing performance to date for the Portland Symphony. Josh thought Fleming's performance was even better than the last time he heard her in London a few years ago.

Karen and Josh present at Music Matters in Seattle

Karen and Josh took part in the fourth annual Music Matters event at Definitive Audio in Seattle, Washington on February 4th. It was a great success with over three hundred music lovers in attendance. Our room was packed for ten half-hour presentations where Josh and Karen discussed and demonstrated Transparent's approach to audio product design in a session called How We Listen. Our room featured a complete Transparent Reference system with Reference interconnects, speaker cables, power cords and PowerIsolator Reference power conditioning, Audio Research electronics and Wilson Watt/Puppy 8 loudspeakers.
