Symphony night - Schumann/Beethoven/Tchaikovsky

Brad O'Toole, David Schultz, Sabrina Schultz and Josh Clark were all at the Portland Symphony Orchestra's performance last night. The program was: SCHUMANN Manfred Overture, Op. 115, BEETHOVEN Violin Concerto in D Major, TCHAIKOVSKY Symphony No. 6, "Pathetique"

There was heated discussion over lunch about the second piece by Beethoven. Brad described it as sublime and enlightened. While Brad liked the violinist's technique, others thought it lacked emotion. The violin used by Michael Ludwig is the ex Mary Portman, Guarneri del Gesu, 1735.
